Overview

Embark on a Transformative Journey with Dar Al Irshad’s Arabic Language Course!

Are you yearning to unravel the language of the Qur’ān, comprehend the profound words of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم directly, and grasp the Language of Islām itself?

Al Imām Ibn Taymiyah emphasized the inseparable link between the Arabic language and the essence of our religion, stating:

“The essence of the Arabic language is from the Religion, and learning it is an obligation. For surely the understanding of the Qur’ān & Sunnah is mandatory, and that cannot happen without understanding Arabic” (Iqtiḍā’ al Ṣirāṭ al Mustaqīm, 1/470).

At Dar Al Irshad, we echo this sentiment and have meticulously crafted an Arabic Language Course, ascending through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, to Diamond Levels. Our mission is to provide Muslims with a unique opportunity to traverse the Arabic language journey, starting from a beginner’s level and progressing to advanced proficiency.

Learning Path

This learning path encompasses discussions from the Bronze to the Gold Level. Stay tuned for the upcoming Platinum and Diamond Levels!

  • Naḥw is the study of Arabic Grammar/Syntax where a student learns to correctly convey meanings in Arabic, form coherent sentences & work to correctly read/comprehend the ending of Arabic words.
  • Ṣarf (also referred as morphology/etymology) is the area through which a student learns the internal assembly of a word by way of patterns of vowelisation & introduction of extra letters.
  • Simply, Naḥw deals with vowel of the last letter whilst Ṣarf deals with the forms of words.

  • Works:
  • Naḥw (Syntax):Tashīl al Naḥw (based on ‘Ilm al Naḥw of Ml Mushtāq Aḥmad Charthawalī) prepared by Sh ‘Aamir Bashīr)
  • Ṣarf (Morphology): Tashīl al Ṣarf (compiled by Madrasah Islaamiyyah Benoni)

Speaking Arabic is the most fun way to engage with Arabic. Here a student will go through a series of different conversations in Arabic such as introduction, at the shopping centre/mall, with guests, at work, at a holiday/trip etc. By listening to the teacher repeatedly, and gradually getting into speaking it yourself, Arabic conversation will be a fun task ahead.

Instead of just delivering a lesson, the teacher will induce the student to speak following the Me-We-You approach of learning. By the student speaking to the teacher and to other students, he/she will build the confidence and skills to speak themselves.

This subject will focus on the following:

  • Teaching students the basics of Arabic calligraphy to improve their writing skills
  • Going through a range of Arabic texts from Classical to MSA to offer variety of exposures to different Arabic texts
  • Using the ME-We-You Approach to make a student accustomed to Arabic reading
  • Learning new vocabulary
  • Detailed application of Arabic Grammar
  • Making students write Arabic in the following levels:
    • Basic Q/As
    • Sentence-based responses
    • Detailed responses
